Just before Naruto Uzumaki was born, a colossal demon called the Kyuubi, also known as the Nine-Tailed Fox, invaded Konohagakure, the Hidden Leaf Village, causing chaos and destruction. To quell the Kyuubi's fury, the Fourth Hokage, the village leader, gave up his life and entrapped the monstrous creature inside the newborn Naruto.
